About Habitat for Humanity & ReStore

Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario is an affiliate of Habitat Canada, a national network of organizations with a vision of a world where everyone has a safe and affordable place to live. In support of Habitat's homebuilding projects, we operate social enterprise home improvement stores called ReStore. Habitat Heartland's eight ReStore locations sell new and gently-used donated goods and materials. Proceeds from sales go to help cover the cost of building affordable housing

The ReStore concept is a Canadian idea. Five volunteers from Winnipeg, Manitoba opened Habitat for Humanity’s first-ever ReStore in 1991. Today, there are over 100 Habitat ReStores across Canada and more than 1,000 worldwide, all raising funds to enable more families to partner with us and access affordable homeownership - read more about the ReStore.

Every Habitat ReStore is different, offering a unique shopping experience for those looking to add something new to their homes. The inventory is always changing, as new items are donated by local residents and businesses daily. Customers can expect to find items such as windows, doors, paint, hardware, lumber, tools, lighting fixtures, furniture, appliances and more.

"Our lives have completely changed since being in our new home. Our kids are sleeping through the night, waking up rested and ready for school. In turn, we have been sleeping, allowing us to conquer the day with ease. I can’t thank you and the team enough for everything you have done for my family."
